Appointments, budget hearings before supervisors By John Speer CIP jspeer@tamatoledonews.com

Budget hearings before the Tama County Board of Supervisors continued Monday, Jan. 13, as department heads presented their budget requests for the 2020-21 fiscal year beginning July 1. County Engineer Lyle Brehm was scheduled to make the road department asking on Monday morning. It is traditionally the biggest single amount in the budget picture followed by public safety. This year both counties and cities are required to provide an additional hearing process focusing on certain property tax levies of cities and counties according to the Iowa department of Management. Based upon legislative action, the hearing on increases or decreases to these levies must be held, and a resolution adopting the maximum amount of these affected levies must be completed prior setting a hearing date to approve the budget. Appointments A revision to the appointment of medical examiner investigators was approved by supervisors Monday naming DalLynn Mc Eltree and Bruce McEltree to the posts. Former investigators including Deputy Sheriffs Bryan Ellenbecker and Bruce Rhoads and Toledo EMS Director Greg Johnson had also been initially approved.
