Tanning facilities in Tama County will be overseen by the Board of Health if an ordinance is adopted by the board of supervisors. Hearings on the ordinance were set by the board during their regular meeting on July 15 for successive Mondays beginning Aug. 12 to hear comment The county has been left with the decision on whether to inspect and regulate tanning facilities after the Iowa Department of Health bowed out of the role on July 1. The proposed ordinance is an adoption of the date regulations. It covers inspections, allowable power of light bulbs and premises cleanliness Todd Apfel , county environmentalist, told the supervisors at their July 8 meeting. Then he said the county has been performing the inspections under state regulations but must now have its own ordinance if the practice is to continue. He said the Tama County Board of Health has approved the proposed ordinance. In other business the supervisors approved: •closing a portion of Tama County Road V18 through Chelsea for the annual Car Show on July 27. •a list of homestead and military property tax additions and deletions for fiscal year 2019. •the semi-annual report of Michelle Yuska, Tama County treasurer showing an ending cash balance on June 20 totaling $15,806,775. •County Auditor Laura Kopsa’s report of fees collected which totaled $344 from primarily the sale of plat books and maps. •weekly claims totaling $790,975. •a liquor license sales renewal license for Dysart Recreation the Dysart golf course.
