Before Judge Andrew B. Chappell in Tama County District Court: William Joseph Kelley, 45, Traer, was found guilty by the court of a charge on interference with official acts. He received a suspended five-year prison sentence and a $750 fine were suspended. He was placed on supervised probation to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services for two years and to pay the probation enrollment fee. Judge Chappell dismissed charges of assault on persons engaged in certain occupations, going armed with intent and carrying weapons. The counts were dismissed on the recommendation of the pre-sentence report and recommendations made by the prosecution and defense according to the court record. Kelley was charged on March 23, 2018, in the 100 block of North Main Street, Traer, after being reported as intoxicated and dangerous the criminal complaint states. Kelley was observed running north from the Chelsea Savings Bank in Traer to his Main Street residence by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Wesley Sebetka. Sebetka pursued Kelley into the residence at which point Kelley pulled a knife and threatened the deputy sheriff according to the complaint. A tasar device was deployed, subduing Kelley . He was handcuffed, then searched with brass knuckles and a second knife allegedly found on his person. He was arrested, taken to jail and attended there by a paramedic.
Herman Robert Rauch, 41, Gilman, pleaded guilty to keeping, permitting or maintaining premises or other environment for drugs. He was sentenced toa tow-year prison term which was suspended and as placed on unsupervised probation for two years. He was fined and assessed court costs totaling $1,069. He was charged on Jan, 9 by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Rod Drummer. Joshua LeRoy Papesh, 24, Traer, pleaded guilty to driving while barred. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail with all but 10 days suspended credited with 10 days already served and ordered released from custody. A $625 fine was suspended. He was placed on supervised probation to the Department of Correctional Services and directed to pay the $300 supervisory fee and to pay court costs totaling $600 and to pay jail fees to be assessed. Papesh was charged on March 1 at West State and North Main streets by Toledo Police Sgt. San Quigley. Quentin Paul McGachey, 35, Toledo, admitted violation of terms of probation and was found in contempt of court. He was sentenced to serve 60 days in jail with credit for time already served and is to be discharged from probation upon completion of the sentence. In a series of violations in the probation report it is alleged McGachey admitted to his probation officer the use of methamphetamine on six occasions, fuse of marijuana on one occasion, failing to follow through on completing substance abuse treatment, missing five appointments with is probation officer and failing to pay financial obligations to the court. McGachey was placed on probation of a charge of 1st offense drunken driving on Sept. 28, 2017.
Before Judge Kevin McKeever: Jessica Anita Perez, 29, Toledo, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct. She was sentenced to five days in jail with credit for any time already served and fined and assessed court costs totaling $616. Perez was originally charged with 2nd offense public intoxication on Dec. 17, 2018, after entering the Toledo Police Department and allegedly admitting she had used methamphetamine and several unidentified pills. The charge was filed by Toledo Officer Anthony Rodriguez.
