Tama County Supervisors met Monday morning with Tama County Conservation Bob Etzel to discuss the ARC-CO (Agricultural Loss Coverage-County) program which provides revenue loss coverage at the county level. ARC-CO payments are issued when the actual county crop revenue of a covered commodity is less than the ARC-Co guarantee for the covered commodity. Etzel told supervisors the money would be coming to him and he would like to deposit the check in the Nature Center Trust Account rather than the LED (Land and Development). Etzel says this money is to go to the school district projects. Etzel says several schools are involved including South Tama County, North Tama County, Green Mountain-Garwin, Gladbrook-Reinbeck, Union, Belle Plaine, and East Marshall. Etzel says he would like to use this for environmental education and would need to find the per pupil ratio before deciding what should go to the schools. Etzel says there is no special way he is required to divide the money. Supervisors were notified that the Sac and Fox Indian tribe is requesting Three more sections of Tama County land they have purchased be put into trust. This would include 110 acres in Section 20 of Township 83 (tax exemption would be $1808.00), 46.83 acres in Section 32 of Township 83 (tax exemption would be $7428.00)), and 2.08 acres in Section 18, Township 83 (tax exemption would be $4922.00) for a total exemption loss of $14,158.00.. In Fiscal year 2010 Sac a & Fox exempt acres was 6080.15 acres in Trust, 17.52 acres in Forest Reserve and 20 acres in Forest Reserve within the trust. Fiscal year 2018 will show 6336.76 acres in Trust, 39.01 acres in Forest Reserve-agriculture and 25.30 Forest Reserve Rural Residential making a total of 6403.07 acres. Sac & Fox land in trust shows tax dollars lost of $106,544.00 (estimated using FY 17 levies) with the valuation of land at $3,519,890.00. The above values do not include most dwellings and casino value. In other business Tami Wise told supervisors she was setting up a time for all people on county insurance to come in and have all information updated. Wise says whenever a person is deceased, divorced, married, or many other situations the records must be changed. This hasn’t been done for some time. Claims approved for payment come to $364,728.90.
