Monday morning the Tama County Board of Supervisors, Kendall Jordan, Dan Anderson and Larry Vest , held a public hearing regarding the sale of the old county home building and property. No persons or letters were present for approval or opposition to the selling of the property for $17,600.00 to Billy Dreesman. Toledo, Iowa. A resolution was passed stating the Tama County Board of Supervisors were offering the county home at 2480 K Avenue, Toledo for sale. The board had previously taken sealed bids on the property with two bids being received, the high bid being $17,600 from Billy Dreesman, Toledo, Iowa. The Tama County Board of Supervisors accepted the bid of $17,600 from Dreesman. The property is located at 2480 K Avenue, Toledo, Iowa, Section 2 Toledo Township, Tama County, Iowa. A survey will be done to determine the exact amount of acres to be included in the sale. When the survey is completed it will be taken to the attorney to take care of official documentation and finalize papers. Bob Etzel and Chris Anderson from the Tama County Conservation, was present to give an update on Environmental Education. Chris Anderson, a naturalist, was hired a year ago for teaching environmental education. Anderson has worked previously as a Ranger, done work in the State of Nebraska, work in Iowa in Woodbury County and Black Hawk County. Anderson came from the Waverly area. Anderson told supervisors he has worked in the schools, North Tama, South Tama, Union and Gladbrook-Reinbeck. Anderson stated he likes working with 4-H groups, and also in scouting groups. He would be interested in working with any of these groups, so if persons in Tama County have not met him, they can reach him at the Tama County Conservation office for more information. Etzel says the Tama county Nature center is located in the central part of the county so it can be easily reached from any area of the county. They have had many nature hikes, hunts and other types of educational activities at the nature center for youth of all ages. Etzel says they are planning on a Grand Opening at the nature center on October 9, 2016 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. More information will be forthcoming soon. Claims for the past week approved were in the amount of $184,538.57.
