Tama Co. Supervisors By Joyce Wiese

Tama County Supervisors met Monday morning, May 16, with County Engineer Lyle Brehm who requested a resolution for a road vacation. Brehm has received a request from a landowner interested in vacating a portion of road between sections 14 and 23 of Carroll Township. The Supervisors passed a resolution to set a hearing on the proposed vacation on June 6, 2016, in the supervisors board room at 9:30 a.m. This will be to vacate and close a section of Tama County Secondary Road, described as 250th Street from QQ Avenue to R Avenue, with a distance of approximately 1/2 mile all lying in Sections 14 and 23, Carroll Township. A Public hearing was held at 10:00 a.m. for a budget amendment for the 2015-2016 fiscal year. There were no public comments so the hearing ended and a resolution was approved for the budget expenditure of $25,540.00 to the Public Safety & Legal Services to coverincreased claims/reimbursements for medical examiner. This was for a delinquent court debt reimbursement. The second part of the amendment was for physical health and social services in the amount of $159,626.00 to cover grants received for public health not budgeted. County Environment and Education in the amount of $12,684.00 for Home Ownership grants. Government services to residents in the amount of $6281.00 for special elections held (county gets reimbursed for this), and $1000 for administration to cover office/data processing related to Special Elections. The total amendment came to $205,131.00. A third resolution was passed approving the transfer of $92,179.00 from the Vienna TIF Fund to the Debt Service Fund as requested by Tama County Auditor Laura Kopsa. In other business a request from Flashing Thunder Fireworks for a fireworks permit for the Gladbrook Corn Carnival on June 15, 2016 was received. The application and all the papers necessary were In order. The Application was approved. Norman Gossard, Garwin, was present to visit with supervisors about some property in Garwin that he has concerns about. No action was taken at this time. Supervisor Anderson made the motion to approve the change of ownership for John Ernest Vineyard & Winery for their liquor license. All voted for the change.
