Meet the Candidates 2025: Doug Rowe, Gladbrook-Reinbeck School Board At-Large
Doug Rowe.
Doug Rowe
I am Doug Rowe. I have been a dedicated member of the GR School Board for over 19 years. I graduated from Gladbrook Community High School and live in Gladbrook. My wife Andrea, and daughter Corissa both teach at GR. My son, Alex lives north of Reinbeck on the family farm. I have three granddaughters: Joella in 1st grade, Annalise in preschool, Kemper who is seven months old.
Many people have asked why I want to continue serving on the Gladbrook-Reinbeck School Board after so many years and after my own children have graduated. The answer is simple: I truly enjoy it, and I care deeply about representing our entire district. During my time on the board, I’ve been actively involved in important projects and goals that are still in progress, and I want to see them through to completion.
What ultimately inspires me to run again are my three granddaughters, who live in the GR district. I want to help ensure that they – and every student – receive the very best education, opportunities, and facilities possible. My focus is on accountability, transparency, and using common-sense solutions to guide our decisions.
I’m running because I believe in our schools, our students, our staff, and our communities – and I’m committed to continuing the work that makes Gladbrook-Reinbeck a place we can all be proud of.
It takes a lot of time and commitment to be a good school board member. I take this role very seriously and put in the time needed; I have been very committed. While I have been on the board, I have not missed a regular business meeting. You can count on one hand the number of committee or work sessions that I was not able to attend. Sometimes, due to my job commitments, I have had to join the meeting remotely, but I was there. This included meeting the expectation of being part of the graduation ceremony and accepting the honor of being invited to, and attending the prom banquet.
