Montour School graduates to celebrate 137th anniversary – all are welcome

MONTOUR – Graduates of the Montour School will be celebrating their 137th Anniversary on Saturday, May 25 at the Montour Community Center. The first graduating class in 1881 had only two students, Nelle Blake and Gertrude Poyneer. All graduates, as well as anyone interested in the Montour Celebration are welcome. Social hour will be at 3:30 p.m., the business meeting at 5 p.m., and dinner will be at 6 p.m. Reservations can be made by calling 816-729-6795 (Marvin Hoskey), or tickets can be purchased at the door. There will be a short program as well as a display table of Montour History. If you have pictures or memorabilia to share please bring them with you.

The first reunion was held in 1886, and every year since except for 1918 due to World War 1. The oldest graduates we are sure of are Margaret Holmes Lyon of Toledo and Mary Moore Wernecke of Arizona, Class of 1943; and Dallas Wiese of Toledo and Mildred Wiese Clark of California, Class of 1944.
