Murty sisters earn multiple awards at 2026 Iowa State Fair FFA shows

DES MOINES – Two GMG FFA students represented the chapter at this year’s FFA Shows at the Iowa State Fair.

Rising junior Skyler Murty exhibited in the Farm Crops Division with corn plants, soybean plants, a gallon of oats, and a gallon of corn. She placed eighth overall with her corn plants and fifth overall with her gallon of oats.

Class of 2026 graduate Rhianna Murty exhibited in the beef show with a steer in the performance beef class and a Foundation Simmental Cow/Calf pair. Her steer received a blue ribbon in his class, and she is awaiting carcass results for final placings. In addition, her cow/calf pair was named Reserve Champion in the Foundation Simmental division.

Finally, Rhianna took part in the Iowa FFA Beef Premier Exhibitor Contest. In this event members take a beef knowledge test, interview with beef industry professionals, and complete a beef skill-a-thon event. Rhianna was named champion and received a $1,000 scholarship from the Iowa Foundation For Ag Advancement (IFAA).

The GMG FFA is proud of these members and their accomplishments at the 2026 Iowa State Fair.
