REINBECK – Gia Harris, a member of the Reinbeck Public Library, and her family recently completed the monumental task of reading 1000 books before kindergarten.

Gia began her challenge in August of 2022 — meaning she has listened to 1000 books in just one year! She has listened to an average of three books per night.

Gia’s favorite readers are her Mom and Dad. She completes most of her reading in her bedroom, but a humorous Gia claims the bathroom is actually the best place to read (even though she has yet to read a book in there).

The superstar reader says her favorite book is her brand new, personalized “Gia the Dinosaur” book. She has enjoyed animal books best throughout this challenge.

Gia’s parents have some advice for future ‘1,000 Books Before Kindergarten’ challenge takers – be consistent and make it fun! Reading the books and keeping them interactive makes it a good time with your child and not a chore.
