The Mid-Iowa Youth Beef Team held its Annual Banquet on Sunday, November 7. Attendees were entertained with a video capturing 2021 activities and a tribute to the graduating high school seniors. During 2021, members helped the Iowa Beef Industry Council with the Baby’s First Bites campaign, learned about the National and Iowa check-off programs, hosted KIX101.1 Melia Jeanne on a farm tour, and enjoyed a fall field trip that included educational tours at the Iowa Cattlemen’s Headquarters, the Iowa State University Beef Research Farm, and the Couser Cattle Company who has received the NCBA’s 2010 National Environmental Stewardship Award, the 2015 National BQA Feedlot award, and a 2020 inductee to the Iowa Cattlemen’s Hall of Fame.

Team members also completed individual events, serving as advocates and educators for the beef industry. Team alum Aubree Beenken was the guest speaker. Aubree’s presentation, “Embrace Opportunities,” encouraged the team to explore their interests whenever they could to make great friends, develop a network of resources, and determine their career path.

The Mid-Iowa Youth Beef Team has exciting and educational activities planned for 2022. Youth interested in the beef industry and between 12 to 18 years old are welcome to join our team.
