Area students qualify for all-state speech

GMG's Kennadi Sederburg qualified her original oratory titled “Scrapers and Mosquitoes” for the 2021 all-state individual speech program.

The 2021 speech season wrapped up earlier this month with the individual state speech contests held on March 13.

GMG sent 14 events to the state contest. Those included Literary Program: Stephenie Claussen, Jadyn Hessenius; Storytelling: Kaci Krier; After Dinner Speaking: Frances Jackson; Spontaneous Speaking: Joaquin Fitzsimmons; Poetry: Jessica Johnson, Wyatt Jackson; Radio News: Maecyn Lewis; Prose: Chloe Wickham, Angel Schewe; Original Oratory: Kennadi Sederburg, Angel Schewe; Acting: Kaci Krier; Solo Musical Theater: Chloe Wickham, Taylor Tremaine.

The Wolverines qualified one performer for the all-state program. Kennadi Sederburg earned all-state honors for her original oratory titled “Scrapers and Mosquitoes”.

“I’m beyond proud of our team, especially in a year that was far from normal,” GMG speech coach Jaimie Gargas said. “There was a core group that kept each other going, and really helped them achieve a lot together.”

The Rebels meanwhile qualified three performers for the all-state program. Earning all-state honors for Gladbrook-Reinbeck were Maia McLean in Musical Theatre, Paul Brockett in Radio News and Paige Creswell in Prose.
