Two GMG speech students recently earned All-State honors for their Group Mime event. Joaquin Fitzsimmons, left, and Owen Bovenmyer, right, are pictured rehearsing their mime event titled “Carnival Capers” ahead of their state contest on Feb. 6. The duo received all Division 1 ratings at the state contest and were one of six large group events in the Tama-Grundy region to qualify for All-State Speech. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual All-State Speech event was canceled for 2021, though All-State qualifiers were able to purchase a banner and All-State apparel.
