North Tama holds off GMG By Joshua Welton

North Tama played GMG on Friday and walked away with the victory. The score was 29-6. The game started out with the Wolverines kicking off. Things quickly turned around when GMG recovered a fumble on the first play from scrimmage. GMG lost a fumble on the offense’s first play. North Tama scored 29 straight points until GMG stopped their shutout bid with a Ryan Spurlin touchdown. North Tama’s running back Kelon Hansen had 26 carries for 198 yards rushing. Their quarterback Brody Hulme had 7 passing attempts with 6 completions for 59 yards. Colton See of the Redhawks grabbed 2 fumble recoveries. Kyle Isenhower also recovered a fumble for the Redhawks. Spencer Swanstrom recovered a fumble in the endzone to score for North Tama. Ryan Spurlin of GMG had 19 carries for 54 yards. GMG’s quarterback, Bridger Claassen, carried the ball 14 times for 48 yards. He also was 7 for 21 passing with 86 yards. Matt Smith had 48 receiving yards. Spurlin had seven tackles and an interception for the Wolverines. Jacob Burt had five tackles and a fumble recovery. North Tama is 1-1 on the season and GMG falls to 0-2.
