GMG vs. Montezuma By Joshua Welton
On Friday, Sept. 12 the Wolverines from Green Mountain-Garwin played in Montezuma. It was WHO13 game of the week. It was a special game because RVTV was in Montezuma for the last day before the Cy-Hawk game. In the end the Braves beat the Wolverines by a score of 45-6. It was tied 6-6 with 10 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. Then Montezuma scored on the kickoff to begin their streak of 39 unanswered points. Bridger Claassen threw for 220 yards off of 14 completions. He had a touchdown and was picked off once. Ryan Spurlin rushed 8 times for 5 yards. Dakota Weishaubt rushed 3 times for 11 yards. Levi Duden led the defense with 6.5 tackles. Alec Bovenmyer was second with 6 tackles. GMG is now 0-3 the season and are 0-1 in district play. GMG will play Iowa Valley for the Homecoming game. The Montezuma Braves are 3-0 for the season and 1-0 in district play. They play their next game at home against Lynnville-Sully.
