Eight-ranked Rebels rip up BCLUW By TIMES-REPUBLICAN STAFF

CONRAD – A fourth-down conversion on its opening possession helped spark the Gladbrook-Reinbeck football team’s runaway victory over BCLUW in Friday’s Class A District 4 opener. The eighth-ranked Rebels outgained their hosts 442-14, turning two first-quarter interceptions into quick points with touchdown passes. Gladbrook-Reinbeck (2-1, 1-0) galloped out to a 31-0 halftime lead and eased its way into district play while handing BCLUW (2-1, 0-1) its first defeat. Camden Kickbush finished 7-for-12 passing for 126 yards with three first-half touchdowns and no interceptions, while Eric Stoakes rushed for 112 yards and two scores in the lopsided win. Colton Dinsdale, Austin Lott and Phillip Zimmerman each picked off a Mitch Miller pass, and both Dinsdale and Zimmerman made good on the turnovers with touchdown catches. After a 12-yard Stoakes run to paydirt capped G-R’s opening drive, Zimmerman pulled down an interception and reeled in a 43-yard touchdown reception on the next play from scrimmage. Bennett Petersen’s 24-yard field goal finished off a 31-0 halftime lead for the Rebels, who host Denver next Friday night. Cameron Murphy’s 60-yard TD dash made it 45-0 late in the third quarter, and Jake Schuman’s 1-yard plunge capped the scoring. Murphy ended with five carries for 76 yards, while Dinsdale netted 40 yards on five runs and 39 yards on two receptions. Josh Cooley caught two balls for 37 yards and a 12-yard touchdown pass. Tyler Eiffler and Bryce Ehlers both finished with 6.5 tackles to pace the Rebel defense, which surrendered just 3 yards rushing and four first downs. Miller went 0-for-6 passing but led the Comets with 14 rushing yards. Luke Asche was limited to 4 yards on five carries. Clay Silver recovered a fumble for the BCLUW defense. The Comets go on the road next Friday for a District 4 clash with North Tama.
