Agriculture scholarships available
The Grundy Center Community School District Foundation was established in 1991 to raise funds for enriching the educational delivery system in the Grundy Center Community School District by awarding grants which would normally not be available in the regular school budget. In addition to this mission, in 2013 the Foundation was given the opportunity to award scholarships to graduating seniors who reside in Grundy County and are seeking a degree or training in an agriculture field.
The W. Dwight & Lorraine A. Stone Estate Scholarships were established in January 2014 as a result of a Trust awarded to the Foundation from the Estate of Mr. & Mrs. Stone. Mr. & Mrs. Stone were residents of Minnesota but owned farmland in Grundy County. Upon their death a Trust was set up so that rent from the farm would go toward scholarships. It was their hope that the scholarships will provide an opportunity for students interested in an agriculture career to be able to pursue their dreams.
Up to four scholarships are available with the total amount of $20,000. If you are a resident of Grundy County and a 2017 graduating senior pursuing post-secondary education in an agriculture field, you may obtain an application by contacting your high school principal, guidance counselor or Agriculture teacher. Deadline for submitting your application is April 1, 2017. Finalists will be contacted for an interview with Foundation members.
