Madison Marie Knaack
Name: Madison Marie Knaack
Nickname(s): Mad, Maddy, Peaches, and (apparently) Mikayla
Date of birth: August 6, 1998
Parents’ names (may include step parents): Annie Brokaw (mother), Tony Knaack (father), and Bob Brokaw (stepfather)
Siblings (may include step siblings): Tara (sister; 21), Casey (brother; 13), Cael (brother; 9), Nate (stepbrother), and Cassie (stepsister)
Pets: Elphaba or “Elphie”; female black cat.
Favorite school lunch: Pizza or mac and cheese. The frozen peaches from the salad bar were also nice.
Favorite G-R High School teachers: Ms. Keber, Mrs. Bridges, and Mrs. Johanns–we all miss those last two! Also Mrs. Strohbehn, she’s pretty funny and definitely patient when it comes to her students.
Favorite G-R High School class: Choir and all the English/literature classes. Both classes allow me to enjoy my hobbies during school hours and I’ve connected really well with the instructors of these classes.
Favorite color: The sky right before the sun sets.
Hobbies: Drawing, reading, and writing.
Extracurricular Activities/Sports at G-R: Piano and choir.
Favorite high school memory: When I finally began to figure out who I really was, and who my real friends were. I’ve had a rough time with friendships in the past, so it’s nice to know who has my back when it boils down to what’s important.
My best G-R
accomplishment: Not failing all of my math classes. Thanks, guys.
Things you will miss about G-R: The accommodating and patient teachers; that’s definitely something I’ll have to get used to not having during college.
Your role model and why: My role models are the people all around me. Everywhere I see people doing great things and that makes me want to be great as well.
Advice to underclassmen: Don’t worry about mistakes you may have made in middle school or freshman year. They’re minuscule in the grand scheme of things, and no one remembers them by the time you become a junior or senior anyway, they remember you for the things you did great.
Future plans: Currently planning on going to Hawkeye with the intentions following with UNI for secondary education.
