Gladbrook-Reinbeck School Board meeting

The Gladbrook-Reinbeck School Board held their regular monthly meeting on April 21, 2016. The meeting began with a public hearing in regards to the roof project on the Junior High/High School Building. After no comments, the public hearing was adjourned and the regular meeting began. Gary Sinclar of 5Cast gave a presentation to the board on the district’s financial projections. In correspondence, the board received letters from elementary students asking them to not remove a tree in front of the elementary building. The agenda and consent agenda were approved. In old business, second board reading policies Graduation Requirements, Basic Instruction Program, and Job Descriptions were approved. In new business, it was approved to cut the boy’s and girl’s assistant track coach position. The bid for roofing improvements was awarded to Service Roofing Company for $139,517. Certified staff contracts and classified staff contracted were approved for 2016-17. It was approved to provide transportation for all Gladbrook students during the summer for summer school, which will be held in the Gladbrook-Reinbeck Elementary. The end date for 2015-16 school year will be June 2 at 2:30. Disposal of assets Old Allis Chalmers tractor, gas dryer, and two water reels will be sold. The soccer and football field lighting was approved, finalizing both projects. In buildings and grounds, there was discussion regarding multiple new projects. Asbestos removal and carpet installation in the elementary was approved along with new blinds in the elementary. The elementary parking lot project and new wrestling room projects will continue. The relocation of the superintendent’s office will be discussed at a later date. A public hearing has been set for the next meeting. The annual staff breakfast will take place on June 8th at 7:30. The board’s next regular meeting will be on May 19 at 6:30 in the G-R Elementary. The meeting was adjourned at 9:50.
