GR Prom

The Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School Prom was held on Saturday, April 23, at Lincoln AMVET Hall. The night began with the Walk-In at 5:30 PM; the many ladies and gentlemen looked absolutely stunning as they walked in. Everyone was dressed like royalty in their formal attire. After all the couples made it in and were done with pictures, dinner was served. Dinner was served as follows: salad, chicken, wedding potatoes, corn, a slice of bread and for dessert, an oreo cake. A heartfelt grace was given by the wonderful Janet Schildroth to remind everyone of the things we should be thankful for, including the delicious meal we were being served.

Once dinner ended and the last of the pictures were taken, the real party started. People slowly made their way out to the dance floor, and the dancing was done at 11 PM. Students participating in After Prom had to be back by midnight.

After Prom began with G-R juniors and seniors entering themselves in any of the drawings for prizes they wished to win, followed by a scrumptious early breakfast being served. After people finished eating, they began playing the games that were provided, including human hungry hippos, giant Jenga, Twister, Bags and a straws game. Many prizes were won at these games, such as coupons for free food at restaurants, snacks and candy.

Following the games, a hypnotist was brought in for entertainment. The hypnosis act was most likely the highlight of many people’s nights; it was a hilarious show of our juniors and seniors being hypnotized and made to do silly things. The seniors amongst those hypnotized were as follows: Matt Olson, Sydney Brown, Cameron Murphy, Carter Murphy, Jesse Royer, Josh Cooley, Hayley Weber, Amber Brandt, Tyler Eiffler, Colton Dinsdale, Megan Oelschlager and Brittany Yates. They were told to forget names and numbers, to see famous people in the crowd, that they were extremely hot and cold, and many more tricks that will bring laughter for years to come. After the main entertainment of the evening, the prizes were given out to those who won, and everyone received a gift bag. The big winners of the night were Dan Robinett with the mini fridge and Amanda Grunklee with the TV.

The juniors helped set up for Prom and the parents and businesses donated their time, money, and prizes to make this year’s Prom and After Prom so fun and memorable.
