Students create tables for Spanky’s Restaurant

Gladbrook-Reinbeck teacher, Mr. Brady Swenson, and his Industrial Technology Woods and Metals Class students collaborated to design, create and deliver some very neat upcycled tables for the new Spanky’s Restaurant in Gladbrook! Each table has a different theme.

Spanky’s Restaurant and Catering renovated the former Uptown Lounge in downtown Gladbrook. The building has a colorful past, at one time housing a theater and also a meat market. Old pictures and memorabilia from the former theater and meat market will adorn the walls. Gladbrook-Reinbeck Art students painted some of the murals, one of which resembles a theater curtain to commemorate the building’s history.

Spanky’s opened for business last week. Regular hours will be 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Open on Sundays for events with a reservation. If you’re looking for a great place to eat in Gladbrook, stop by and admire the wonderful work that our G-R students contributed to this new venue!
