GRUNDY CENTER – Students who are enrolled in a health care career program are invited to apply for a 2024 Grundy County Memorial Hospital Foundation Health Care Career Scholarship. The scholarship awards are aimed at students who graduated from high school or are currently living or working in Butler, Grundy, Hardin or Tama counties. At least one term of study in an accredited health care program must be completed at the time of the scholarship application.

“The GCMH Foundation is pleased to offer up to nine $1,500 scholarship awards to local students,” says Foundation Scholarship Committee chair Bev Meester. “With a national shortage in various health care careers, the Foundation is eager to provide financial assistance to area students as they pursue their health care education.”

Students enrolled in a wide variety of health care careers are eligible to apply, including the areas of nursing, radiologic technology, laboratory science, physical or occupational therapy, physician or physician assistant, dietetics, pharmacy, emergency medical services, health care management, and public health. The scholarship application lists the complete qualifications and the deadline to submit an application is May 31.

“Grundy County Memorial Hospital recognizes that meeting the health care needs of our rural community members includes support and encouragement for those who are pursuing health care education in hopes they will desire a career in one of our local communities,” remarks Keely Harken, GCMH Foundation program manager. “The Foundation is grateful for the generosity of scholarship supporters Sara Lee Yoder, Don and Susie Kliebenstein, and Irene A. Stout. Each of these donors arranged for a gift from their estate to benefit the nurses, therapists, radiologic techs and others who will care for our community members in the future.”
