Dr. Steven and Mary Young of Mount Vernon are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachel Anne, to Brodie Scott Overton, son of Shawn and Cherie Overton, Traer. The bride-to-be is a 2003 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2007 from Wartburg College and is currently a third year medical student at the University Of Iowa Carver College Of Medicine. The groom-to-be is a 2004 graduate of South Tama High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Wartburg College in 2008, and his Bachelor’s in Nursing (BSN) from Creighton University in August 2009. He is currently employed as an emergency room nurse at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids. A December wedding is planned in Mount Vernon.
