Celebrating 10 years at Westview Estates

Marlys Boege and her husband Ray loved the house they raised their family in. It was full of memories and good times. But, they were ready for a change. They had driven by Westview Estates before but had never stopped.

Marlys states, “We called the manager at Westview, went for a tour and picked out our apartment the same day.” They decided to move to Westview Estates in 2005 primarily because it became too difficult to maintain their home, specifically, the chore of keeping the grass mowed.

When asked about the advantages of living at Westview, Marlys said, “We get our noon meal, there is a beauty shop and we can get a massage here. We have our apartments cleaned regularly, we can get our mail delivered inside the building, we can have our groceries delivered directly to us from Truncks Grocery Store twice a week and our utilities are included, just to name a few. I don’t have to worry about shoveling snow or being alone during storms. I feel safe living close to others in a building that is secured at night and with staff here during the day. Visiting with people is another good thing about living here. I don’t have to feel lonely.”

Marlys recalls the earlier years when Ray lived at Westview with her. She states, “He would make coffee each morning and visit with everyone in the dining room.” Ray has passed away but Marlys has decided that Westview is her permanent home. She is a very positive lady and enjoys visiting with others and making new residents feel at home.

“When my family came for our reunion this fall, they commented about how nice and clean everything is. We had use of the activity room in the afternoon and later in the evening we all gathered in the dining room for our meal. They were impressed with the hospitality and the warm atmosphere during their visit.”

Marlys has made Westview Estates her home for 10 years, staying involved by calling bingo twice a week, playing many of the games and enjoying the music and other programs offered, making new residents feel at home and just enjoying life each day. Marlys concludes our conversation with, “I like everything. I love it!”
