I appreciate everyone that brought goodies for all the Westview people. We are truly blessed by all of your thoughtfulness. We started out December by going for our night out to the Morris Inn, this was enjoyed by a good and fun bunch.

We baked and frosted Christmas cookies on the 6th, everyone got to take a plate full home with them. When we were done of course, we had to eat the broken ones.

Pastor Terry came for worship at 10:15 on the 11th this is always appreciated some don’t always get out on Sunday morning especially in this cold weather.

Margaret Ohrt celebrated her birthday on the 12th with Westview people and lots of friends and relatives.

Friday, the 13th was our lucky day for our Christmas tea. Every table in our dining room was full. Tables with Christmas table cloths and fine Christmas china made it very special. Hot apple cider, coffee, hanky-panky rye bread sandwiches, cheese ball and crackers and a chocolate cup with peppermint ice cream and later a $5.00 gift exchange which was also a fun time.

On the 17th about 3 car loads of people drove around Reinbeck to check out all the Christmas lights. How did you like Westview’s as you drove past? Rick, Kelly, Connie, Alice and Kinsey, not only did our outside look good, you should have stopped in to see how we looked inside. When we got back to Westview we enjoyed coffee, hot chocolate and Dorothy Akkerman’s left over goodies from her Christmas carolers.

Dennis Perry came to entertain us on the 19th. He is a good singer and guitar player. All of us joined in and sang with him when it came to the Christmas carols.

At 4 p.m. on the 23rd Sugar and Spice came to entertain us again and of course we made supper for everyone-minestrone soup, homemade french bread, peppermint buster bar dessert. This is always a fun time.

The GR swing choir came to entertain us. What a large group. This was awesome. Mrs. Bridges and the G-R students, you can come back anytime.

Kathy Holst helped Connie and me serve Christmas dinner. Some got to go out and be with family and friends which is always nice.

Alice Glasener celebrated her birthday on Friday, the 27th. Her birthday is on the 29th but she was invited out so she celebrated here at Westview early by serving angel food cake and ice cream.

Jim Kinny came and sang for us at 1:45 on the 31st. He is a very good singer. Then came New Year’s Eve. It was pizza from Nana Rosa, hot apple cider, some beer, wine and coffee. Everyone was wearing a lei and then it was time to put on our hats and blow our horns. Auld Lang Syne was played by Guy Lombardo CD as we all sang along. Then Kinsey and Connie let balloons fall from upstairs. I think this was the most fun watching as everyone was trying to pop the balloons.

The churches came caroling for us. The Lutherans, Presbyterians and the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church. Hope I didn’t leave anyone out.
