We started October out by going to the Highway 63 Diner for our Night Out on the first. On October 2nd Pastor Joel Love came for our 10:00 a.m. worship service. Ron Uhlenhopp came with his accordion at 10:00 a.m. on the 3rd to entertain us. This was very entertaining especially the good old polka music almost made you want to get up and dance. Then at 2:00 p.m. our favorite bingo was played.

We are still doing our exercises three times a week and the card game called Skip-Bo is played every chance we get. At 1:30 p.m. on the 10th Dennis Perry came with his guitar and sang for us this is always a good time. Mae Jean Hoeppner celebrated her birthday on the 11th. Mae Jean and her daughter Becky served us coffee, punch, cupcakes and ice cream.

Again we were having a party and that’s what we do best around here. On the 16th everyone here could invite a friend for tea. Charlene Manlick let us use her fancy tea cups and saucers and Marlys Petersen let us use her tea pots. A good program about friends was given by Janet Schildroth. Kelly Dinsdale made all of the refreshments. Thanks goodness for friends if we didn’t have them we wouldn’t be able to do a lot of the things we do here at Westview.

On the 17th our noon meal was made by the Morris Inn and on the 9th and 30th it was the Corner Cafe. Other times we get our meals from Parkview so this is just a change for everyone and keeps them guessing what they are going to get.

Our road trip to the Barn Happy by Cedar Falls on the 18th was enjoyed by several Westview People. We had our noon meal already but we certainly enjoyed their low calorie desserts and some of us did some shopping. This is always a fun time.

Janet Schildroth came on the 21st after our exercise class for her bible study. After a short quiz on the bible they discussed Reinbeck that sounded like it was very interesting, wish I could have sat in on that.

On the 25th & 26th we held an open house for people to come and see our facility and of course hot apple cider, coffee and goodies were served to everyone that came. Mary Lou Moser and Sandy Peterson for furnished the treats.

On the 20th Connie Thede had a birthday so when Sugar & Spice came on the 28th, she furnished our supper for us which was chili soup, turkey sandwiches, jello salad and cupcakes. Pink squirrels and grasshoppers were also served. Connie is our housekeeper.

For Halloween on the 31st Mary Lou Moser made each one of us a spider with a candy bar in the middle. Mary Lou is always thinking of us at Westview. June Mittler also gave each of us a pencil. At 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. we had it on the Reinbeck TV station for tricks and treaters to come to visit. Dads and moms are still working at that time but we had about 15 come for treats. So it was fun seeing all the costumes everyone enjoyed this.
