Westview July News

Can’t believe July is over already. Seems like we were just riding in the 4th of July parade with the Shriners that let us ride in their convertibles and Lloyd Smith, Marlys Boege, Marilyn Storjohann, Mae Jean Hoeppner and Connie Thede rode in them. We like to let people know that we do have a good time here at Westview.

We are still doing our regular things like exercises three times a week. Cards on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00, so if you feel like playing cards come join us, sometimes we need an extra player. In the upstairs library and lounge we have put the big screen TV so we have movies in the afternoon once a month. We have had some good entertainment this month. On the 11th Neal Allen, Ken Burdick and Jeanne Conrad came. Sugar & Spice came on the 22nd, they always get here at 4:00 so when they are done at 5:00 we serve all the Westview people supper.

On the 31st at 1:30 Jerry Bauchamp came with his accordion and played a lot of Oldie Goldies, this was fun everyone knew the words so we all sang along with him.

For our “night out” we traveled to Dike on the 25th and ate at The Slice-good time and good food.

Al Cheeseman was the only one with a birthday this month on the 19th. He treated us with victory donuts that were still warm. Many more birthdays Al.

The night book club was here at 7 p.m. so in September the afternoon group will start in again after taking some time off for the summer. We have been so busy this month we only had time for bingo once and that is not good. Lots of people love to place bingo.

Janet Schildroth had bible study on the 15th. Pastor Love held worship on the 31st.

Ron & Mona Smith spent a month here at Westview in our furnished apartment. They were from Florida. They used to live in the Waterloo, Cedar Falls area so know a lot of people so they came back in the summer and spent a month in Iowa.

The Dirk’s stayed in that apartment when they had a fire at their duplex. We were happy to have this for them. So for people in the community that doesn’t know this is available by the night, week-end, or by the month and we also have a guest room just like a hotel room which is also available. Just call for a reservation at 345-6761.

Football season will be starting soon so we hope people will gather at the big screen TV in the library and watch the games together.

Sorry I’ve missed a couple of months with the Westview News. Lots of things going on. Take care.
