Veterans offered free meal on Veterans Day

Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging is honoring area veterans with a free meal on Veterans Day. On Friday, November 9, any veteran aged 60 and over that brings in something that proves they are a veteran will be provided a free lunch in their honor. As a special tribute to the veterans, Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging will recognize each of the veterans and offer them time to share their experiences.

Veterans interested in taking part in this Veterans Day celebration are asked to make reservations by Thursday, November 8 at 9 a.m. The menu will include the choice of meatballs or ham balls with sweet and sour sauce, sweet potato casserole, corn, roll and fruit fluff. Meals will be served at the Grundy Healthy Lifestyles Center located at 705 F Avenue in Grundy Center. To make a reservation call 319-824-3843.

The Veterans meals will be available at all of Hawkeye Valley’s Healthy Lifestyles Center locations in Black Hawk, Butler, Bremer Buchanan, Chickasaw, Hardin, Grundy, Marshall, Tama, and Poweshiek counties.
