Another hot and dry month, but that didn’t stop us at Westview from having fun. Monday, Wednesday and Friday it is exercises at 2 p.m. Tuesdays is card playing time at 2 p.m. Skip-Bo is getting to be pretty popular. Thursday bingo was played on the 2nd and again on the 30th. We love bingo and on the 16th Dennis Perry came and sang and played the guitar. He is always good entertainment. On the 23rd a good group of us drove around Pine Lake at Eldora and then ate supper at the Pizza Ranch.

Several of us enjoyed supper at the Memorial Bldg. for the senior citizen meal. Janet Schildroth came on the 20th for Bible Study. The activity room is always full for this. I don’t know how she comes up with something new all the time. We appreciate this. Ministers take turns one morning a month at 10:30 a.m. for worship and we look forward to this.

Sugar and Spice came to entertain us on the 27th. This is fun, they get here about 3:30 p.m. and then Sandi and I always make a light supper for everyone.

On Friday the 3rd Iowa Hospice came for caregivers corner which is interesting and we all had a popsicle afterward and on the 10th we had a sing-a-long in the dining room. We play a CD and have a song book to follow along. When we were finished Mae Jean Hoeppner surprised us with victory donuts from the Fountain on Main. What a treat and you know what the conversation was after that, yes, good old Stephan Bakery. Root beer floats was enjoyed by everyone at 2:30 on the 17th.

Marie Martens celebrated her birthday on the 29th. Marie and her family treated us with banana splits, cupcakes and lemonade. Many more birthdays.

Several Westview people enjoyed going out to Amity Church for their ice cream social. There was no book club this month. Ronnie Jans also had a birthday this month so happy birthday Ron.

Ending this on more of a sad note because on August 3rd one of our dear friends and Westview family member Jack Needham passed away. We certainly miss not having him around for visit with. Every Monday he and Bill Bowen went fishing, we could hardly wait for him to get back so he could tell us about it. I was so glad he got to go on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. He was so excited about this. Our sincere sympathy goes out to his sister Anna Stearns who also lives here.
