Mrs. Tomlinson and her husband Donald live on the family farm northwest of Traer. They have three children, Janice and Paul Peters of Wellsburg, Audrey and Michael Macri of Clive, and Mark and Cindy Tomlinson of Traer. There are seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was born on March 12, 1920 in Rysum, Germany. She married Henry Helmers on June 25, 1949. He died in June 1964. Janna is retired from farming.
