LE GRAND — The East Marshall volleyball team took a set from Gladbrook-Reinbeck for the first time in a long time, but it wasn’t enough to propel the Mustangs to victory.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck (3-8, 1-1) got its first NICL West Division win with a 25-20, 25-23, 19-25, 25-22 triumph over East Marshall (9-3, 0-2) on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

East Marshall last took a set from G-R in 2018, but the Rebels have won 16-straight matches in the series.

Marisa Cahalan led East Marshall with 14 kills, Ashtyn Wheater had 10, Natalie Condon nine and Kiela Wolf eight. Setter Mya Gould came away with 41 assists. Condon and Gould had three blocks apiece to lead the defense, while Libby Atcher made 31 digs.

Atcher also served 18-for-20 with five of the Mustangs’ nine aces.
