GC/G-R boys soccer qualifies for state

REINBECK – The Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys soccer team qualified for the 2026 IHSAA State Soccer Tournament last week by shutting out MFL Mar-Mac, 8-0, on Thursday, May 28, followed by Cedar Valley Christian/Alburnett, 1-0, on Friday, May 29, in the second and final rounds, respectively, of the Class 1A Substate 3 tournament. G-R hosted both games. Against the Huskies on Friday for the substate championship, senior Hudson Clark (G-R Class of 2026) scored the Rebels’ lone goal in the first half, leading his team to victory. Sophomore keeper Devin Boldt made six saves for the Rebels. This past Monday, June 1, No. 8 GC/G-R competed in the Class 1A state tournament at Mediacom Stadium in Des Moines, taking on top-ranked Regina Catholic in the opening quarterfinal round. The Regals defeated the Rebels, 7-1, to advance to the 1A semifinals this past Thursday. Statistics from the state tournament were not available for GC/G-R as of press time. The Rebels ended the 2025-26 season 11-6 overall.
