G-R ends season on high ground

TRIPOLI – The Rebels girls golf team traveled Friday, May 15, to Maple Hills Country Club in Tripoli for their Class 1A Region 4B first-round meet. The top two teams, along with the top six individuals, advanced to the regional final, including the North Butler Bears and the Starmount Stars.

G-R matched their only other 18-hole team score of the season, shooting a 429, which was good enough for fourth out of the nine teams. Avery Boyer (11th) and Reese Schneider (13th) were the Rebels’ top two finishers. Both Kailey Larsen (110) and Amya Blohm (112) set 18-hole personal records.

The girls had a great overall season. The coaches were grateful to have enough participation this year to post team scores for the first time since 2022. It’s a lot more fun competing as a team.

With five of the six girls playing in their first season of golf, the scores were impressive. The Rebels finished with the program’s lowest girls team average in more than 14 seasons. With everyone returning next year, the coaches are excited about the future of the GR girls golf program.

Thank you to the parents and booster club for all of their support this season.
