WATERLOO – On Monday, May 11, the Rebel girls golf team competed at Irv Warren Golf Course in Waterloo for the NICL Conference championship. This was the girls’ first 18-hole meet of the season.

Coming into the tournament, the G-R’s nine-hole average ranked 10th in the 15-team NICL. The girls stepped up in a big way, shooting 43 strokes better than their doubled nine-hole average and finishing with a team score of 429 – earning a seventh-place finish overall. An outstanding round from the girls!

Congratulations to Rebel first-team all-conference golfer Avery Boyer. Boyer opened her front nine with a personal record 47. On Irv Warren’s par 37 back nine, her great play continued with another nine-hole personal record, shooting a 46. She finished with a 93, placing 11th overall.

Reece Schneider had the Rebels’ next best finish. Schneider tied her personal record on the front nine with a 50. With the back nine playing as a par 37, she followed it up with another 50 for a career-best 18-hole total of 100. That score placed her 20th overall in the 77-golfer field.

Amya Blohm also had a great day, beating her previous nine-hole personal record by seven strokes with a 53 on the front nine. Addie Ross joined the fun as well, tying her personal record with a 56. Our part-time golfer and part-time soccer star, Kailey Larsen added a personal record 58 on the front nine. Every girl that swung a club set a PR!

The girls will begin postseason play tonight, Friday, May 15, at Maple Hills Golf Course in Tripoli.
