G-R golfers on a roll!

MARSHALLTOWN – On Tuesday, April 28, the Gladbrook-Reinbeck golf teams traveled to Marshalltown’s Wandering Creek Golf Course for a 9-hole triangular hosted by East Marshall that included the South Tama County B team.

Starting with the girls’ results, G-R took first in team competition, marking the first team win for the girls since the first meet of the 2021 season. Team scores: G-R 220 (season low), South Tama 225, and East Marshall 237. Since our second meet of the year, the girls have improved their team score at every meet.

Player highlights include:

-Overall first-place medalist Avery Boyer with a PR of 49 on the night.

-Reece Schneider with the Rebels’ next lowest score with a 51, good for third overall.

-Addison Ross also had a PR with a 56.

On the boys’ side, the Rebels finished in second place behind a top-five 2A team in East Marshall. The boys posted their best team round of the year, shooting a 163.

Team scores: East Marshall 156, G-R 163, and South Tama 167.

Brayden Utter had the Rebels’ lowest round with a 39, good for a fourth-place tie overall. Chad Gutknecht came in with a 40, placing him tied for sixth overall.

A great night for G-R golf!

Home triangular

Two nights later on Thursday, April 30, Rebel golf hosted AGWSR and North Butler for a triangular at Oakleaf Country Club northwest of Reinbeck.

On the boys’ scorecard, the Rebels won the meet with a score of 163. AGWSR finished second with a 176 and North Butler placed third with a 187. The Rebels also claimed both medalist honors: Laken Thesing shot a 39 to take first place and Tyson Blohm finished second after a cardback tiebreaker with Anthony Knaack with both golfers shooting a 41. The Rebels had one PR on the night – Brayton Dripps shot a 44.

On the girls’ side, G-R finished in second place with a score of 235. Congratulations to North Butler on an impressive first-place finish with a 201. AGWSR finished third with a 248.

Avery Boyer led the Lady Rebels with a 55, finishing tied for fifth overall. Reece Schneider followed with a 56, placing seventh overall. The girls also recorded one PR on the night – Amya Blohm shot a 60.
