Wolverines chase the pack in debut at Colfax-Mingo

COLFAX — The GMG girls’ track and field team finished ninth out of as many teams at the Colfax-Mingo Co-Ed to open the spring season back on Tuesday, March 31.

The Wolverines scored 29 points in a meet that was led by Collins-Maxwell with 112, Baxter (109), Colfax-Mingo (105) and BGM (101).

Skyler Murty led GMG with a second-place finish, scoring silver in the shot put with a heave of 33 feet, 5 inches. She also scored fourth in the discus with a toss of 88-7. Arianna Pierce placed fifth in the shot put (31-3) and eighth in the discus (83-6).

Bryleigh Bartel earned GMG’s top finish on the track, finishing fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1 minute, 39.38 seconds. Taelyn Sash took sixth in the long jump (13-8) and seventh in the 800 (2:42.83).

The Wolverines’ sprint medley team of Josie Parks, Addison Elmore, Gracie Peak and Sash scored seventh in 2:10.73, while the 4×200 foursome of Riah Boege, Murty, Joleesa Vazquez and Pierce placed eighth in 2:15.43.
