G-R matmen help propel Dike-New Hartford to 2026 Storm Duals champions

CONRAD – The Dike-New Hartford/Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys wrestling team captured the 2026 Storm Dual Team Tourney championship at BCLUW High School last Saturday, Jan. 10, by going 5-0 on the day.

In their rise to the top of the heap, DNH/GC/G-R took down Hudson 36-33, Newman Catholic 72-12, South Hamilton 41-33, Southeast Polk 48-28, and BCLUW-SH Storm 54-24.

For G-R, junior Karson Van Heiden at 144 pounds notched a perfect tournament, going 5-0 with four pinfall wins and one win by forfeit. His fastest bout of the day was over the Storm’s Conner Teckenburg whom he defeated in one minute, 22 seconds.

Rebel freshman Brayton Dripps went 3-2 at 138 pounds, recording one pinfall win over BCLUW-SH and two wins by forfeit. His teammate, freshman Parker Schmidt went 2-3, including a win by fall over Newman Catholic’s Joe Boehmer in 1:08 plus a forfeit win.

Freshman Caleb Pifkin rounded out G-R’s scoring, going 1-3 with a single win by forfeit over Newman Catholic.
