CORALVILLE – Seventh-seed Gladbrook-Reinbeck fell 3-1 to the No. 2 Janesville Wildcats on Tuesday, Nov. 4, in the Class 1A quarterfinals at the 2025 Iowa High School State Volleyball Championships. The Wildcats claimed victory 25-23, 23-25, 25-19, 25-18 to advance to the semifinals the next evening.

Against Janesville, the Rebels offense was led by seniors Elly Sieh and Kennedy Brant with nine kills apiece; junior Jada Cheville added five. Junior Kailey Larsen ended the evening with 23 assists; Sieh and Cheville both had two assists apiece.

On defense, Sieh and Larsen dominated with 20 and 19 digs, respectively. At the net, Brant had 11 blocks and Sieh had seven.

G-R notched 10 aces against Janesville, including three from Brant who was 12-for-14; senior Leila Thesing was 12-for-15 and also with three aces.

After sweeping North Tama in the semifinal round, Janesville lost the Class 1A championship to Saint Ansgar, 3-1.

The Rebels finished the 2025-26 season 27-14. Ahead of the state tournament, G-R announced the following Rebels were named to NICL West All-Conference teams: First Team-Kennedy Brant, Elly Sieh, and Kailey Larsen; Second Team-Ayla Baer and Jada Cheville; Honorable Mention-Avery Boyer.
