Rebels scratch out Wildcats 49-32 to lead District 4

JANESVILLE – The Gladbrook-Reinbeck Rebels football team took down the Janesville Wildcats 49-32 last Friday night in a District 4 road game. The win propelled the Rebels (4-1) to the top of the district.

The first edition of the Iowa High School Athletic Association’s 2024 football rankings – released this past Monday – placed G-R at No. 7 in 8-Player.

Thus far this season, the Rebels have vanquished four district rivals – Tripoli, Meskwaki, Dunkerton, and Janesville – outscoring their opponents by a combined 228 points. Their only loss was to non-district Don Bosco, 33-26, in the season opener.

Tonight, G-R is set to play BGM (2-3) at home in another non-district matchup. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. in Gladbrook.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck statistics for the Sept. 27 game with Janesville were not available in time for publication.
