GLADBROOK – On a cool overcast morning, Gladbrook Corn Carnival spectators and athletes alike joined in on the town festival’s annual 5K walk/run race. Organized by Crystal Petersen, the event included a 5K run and a two mile walking race. The objective of the walking race is to complete the distance in as close to a predicted finish time as possible. Following the race’s conclusion, medals, pies, and of course watermelons were handed out to the finishers. After the race, many competitors made their way over to the pancake breakfast to continue the fun festivities of Corn Carnival! South Tama County High School Class of 2022 alum and current Wartburg cross country runner Jonathan Meyer was the winner of this year’s 5K run.
