Rebels rock Nashua-Plainfield in regional opener, take down Regents in quarterfinal

REINBECK — The Gladbrook-Reinbeck girls’ basketball team pounced on Nashua-Plainfield in the opening round of regional play, hammering the Huskies 75-35 last Thursday (Feb. 8) night.

The Rebels (15-9) led 23-6 after the first period and pulled away from there.

Kennedy Brant tallied 21 points, 13 rebounds and five steals to lead Gladbrook-Reinbeck, and Elly Sieh scored 19 points. Lily Dripps added 10 points and 12 boards, with Dripps and Brant both snagging nine offensive rebounds. Lauren Boyer scored nine points and Brinn Schneider added seven more.

The Rebels faced Waterloo Christian (16-6) on the road this week Tuesday in the quarterfinal round. G-R beat the Regents 49-37 to advance to the regional semifinals on Friday.

G-R is scheduled to play Riceville (21-1) at Riceville High School.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
