BENTON — Johnathan Edel was the 190-pound runner-up to lead East Marshall/GMG/Meskwaki boys wrestling at last Saturday’s Bobcat Jerry Eckenrod Invitational.

Edel won his first three matches by decision but was on the losing end of an 8-3 decision with Don Bosco’s Landon Fernandez in the final. Fernandez was a state qualifier last season.

Drew Wheater was sixth at 175 pounds and Xavier Slifer earned seventh at 126 pounds.

The Mustangs were 12th in the team standings with 42.5 points. Don Bosco won the team title with 221 points, Waukee Northwest was second with 212.5 points.
