GARWIN – The GMG volleyball team swept its way past Colo-NESCO for an Iowa Star Conference South Division win last Tuesday, Sept. 26, topping the Royals 25-11, 25-10, 25-16.

Adelyn Sienknecht led the Wolverines (9-7, 3-2) with 15 kills in the match. Mariah Wood added four kills while Dylan Mathern contributed two kills. Setter Hadlee Hempy finished with 23 assists.

Defensively, Mathern led GMG with 10 digs, while Sienknecht and Hempy had three apiece. Hempy served 26-for-27 with two aces, while Sienknecht was 13-for-15 with five aces. Wood added two aces in helping the Wolverines sweep Colo-NESCO (5-12, 2-3).

Heading into the week, GMG was 12-7 (3-2) on the season and was set to face Collins-Maxwell in a road match on Tuesday followed by Baxter back at home on Thursday beginning at 7 p.m. Senior Night recognition will take place ahead of Thursday’s varsity match.
