No. 1 Rebels rout Tripoli, 78-0

GLADBROOK — Top-ranked Gladbrook-Reinbeck had four special teams touchdowns as the Rebels romped over the Tripoli football team 78-0 last Thursday night.

Hudson Clark returned two kickoffs for touchdowns and also took a punt back for another score, helping the Rebels run out to a 44-0 first-quarter lead. Treyvon Herron had a 55-yard punt return for a touchdown as well.

The Rebels (2-0) needed just 267 yards of offense to pile up all their points. Quarterback Isaac Clark was 4-for-4 passing for 101 yards, connecting with Drew Eilers and Herron for touchdowns. Austin Vaverka ran three times for 57 yards and two touchdowns, while Isaac Clark had four carries for 46 yards and two more scores.

Hudson Clark led the defense with 4.5 tackles and an interception.

Heading into the week, the Rebels continue to be ranked No. 1 in 8-Player by The Gazette (post-Week 2 poll/Sept.4).

G-R is set to face Meskwaki (0-1) on Friday (Sept. 8) in a road game. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
