G-R’s Kiburis selected for Senior All-Star Series

Gladbrook-Reinbeck senior William Kiburis received one last chance to represent his Rebels.

Kiburis became just the third player in Gladbrook-Reinbeck history to be selected for the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association’s Senior All-Star Series. He played on the Small Schools East squad on July 27-29 at Merchants Park in Carroll.

Kiburis joins former Rebel standouts Tyler Tscherter (2020) and Matt Thede (1997) as participants in the IHSBCA All-Star Series.

Kiburis was one of his team’s — and the state’s — leaders on the diamond. On offense, Kiburis finished third across Iowa with 50 stolen bases and tied for ninth with 51 runs scored. He led the Rebels with a .343 batting average, 11 doubles and two home runs.

On the mound, Kiburis was second in the state and tops in Class 1A with 130 strikeouts over his 60 2/3 innings pitched. His nine wins ranked him fourth in Iowa and second in 1A, and opponents hit just .084 against him. Kiburis finished his senior season with a 0.92 earned run average.

The Small Schools East faced the Large East team on July 27, Large West on July 28, and Small West on July 29.
