LA PORTE CITY — The Gladbrook-Reinbeck baseball team broke a 5-all tie in the top of the seventh inning to beat Union Community 6-5 in last Tuesday’s (June 20) North Iowa Cedar League contest.

Austin Vaverka drove in the go-ahead run for the Rebels, who had 10 hits.

Drew Eilers finished 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, while William Kiburis, Logan Giesking, Isaac Clark and Vaverka had two hits apiece.

Austen Mathern pitched 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief for the win.
