GMG’s Jayden Beichley competed Feb. 23 at the State Bowling Tournament as part of Marshalltown’s team at Cadillac Lanes in Waterloo. The team lost to Waterloo West in the first round.

Beichley said going to state made him both nervous and excited. He was excited to go as a freshman, but worried about messing up.

Beichley was motivated by his teammates, as well as the thought of bowling well enough for scholarships. Beichley said that he wants to bowl in college.

Beichley’s personal record is 232.

“Make sure the ball fits your hand, practice,” Beichley said adding, “and don’t

ignore people if they give you advice (if you know they have credibility).”
