Pair of Wolverines named to Iowa Star South squad

GMG sophomore softball players Adelyn Sienknechtand Maecyn Lewis were named to the Iowa Star Conference’s all-South Division first team after strong seasons for the Wolverines.

Sienknecht made 13 starts in the pitching circle for GMG and went 7-6 in 80 innings of work. She allowed 94 hits and 94 runs (only 40 of them were earned) while striking out 56 opposing batters. At the plate, Sienknecht had respectable numbers with a .283 batting average, 15 hits and five RBIs.

Lewis had a team-best eight RBIs to go with a .318 batting average, 14 hits and 11 runs scored.

GMG second-teamer Kennedi Sederburg was a senior leader with a .246 batting average, 14 hits and eight RBIs while serving as the team’s first baseman. Senior Jenna Yilek was an honorable mention. She had five hits and drove in four runs.
