Gladbrook-Reinbeck’s run to back-to-back state volleyball tournaments has coincided with junior middle hitter Megan Cooley twice receiving first-team all-conference honors along the way.

Cooley was named to the all-NICL West Division first team for the second year in a row while helping to lead the Rebels back to the Class 1A bracket in Cedar Rapids. G-R’s full-rotation middle hitter finished in the top-10 in a number of statistical in conference play, earning her third all-conference honor overall in the meanwhile.

Cooley finished NICL West play ranked ninth in kills (43) and first in kill efficiency (.468), tied for fourth in blocks (12), was 17th in digs (45) and served 50-for-54 with three aces. Her serving percentage (92.6) ranked ninth among players who attempted at least 50 serves.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck, BCLUW and Grundy Center all finished in a tie for second place in the final NICL West standings with matching 3-2 league records. South Hardin went 5-0 on its way to the undisputed conference title. Tiger senior Jaidyn Teske was named the division’s Outstanding Player and her parents, John and Suzy Teske, were named the league’s Coach of the Year.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck had two second-team honorees in junior setter Emma McClintock and senior middle hitter Katie Clark, while BCLUW utility Allison Engle collected second-team selection as well.
