G-R romps past Tripoli

A 34-0 halftime lead was more than enough for Gladbrook-Reinbeck to take a 40-22 victory on the road against Tripoli (2-2) on Friday, moving the Rebels to 4-0.

Isaac Clark threw for 153 yards and two touchdowns, while Drew Eilers added 93 yards and two scores through the air. Ethan Gienger and Caleb Egesdal were the primary targets, as Gienger caught three passes for 108 yards and three scores while Egesdal had 131 yards and one touchdown on four receptions.

Luke Riffey led the G-R ground gainers with 82 yards on three carries, while Drake Blakesley added 29 yards and a touchdown. Clark also scored a rushing TD.

The Rebels forced five turnovers, with Tristan Sanford-Anders recovering two fumbles. Riffey, Gienger and Egesdal also each recorded an interception.

The Rebels will head to the cornfields of Garwin on Friday to take on the GMG Wolverines (3-1). The Wolverines have seen success this year behind the senior leadership of dual-threat quarterback Kooper Gill who has accounted for 18 of his team’s 23 touchdowns this year.
